  • Who should own and drive digital transformation?

    There should be someone internally who ‘owns’ the project and typically this is someone in a senior position who owns the customer experience (as this is such an integral aspect of digital transformation), i.e. the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) or Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) – or maybe a Chief Customer Officer (CCO).

    It’s also important to build up ‘change champions’ across the different teams within the business, to share some of the ownership and help drive the change and build buy-in.

  • How can I get the C-suite on board with digital transformation?

    If you are having trouble getting executive buy-in for digital transformation, there are a couple of things you can do.

    1. Be the champion for digital transformation within your company. Take steps to gradually build credibility and gain buy-in from the executives. Start with small, agile projects and leverage their success to build momentum.
    2. Collect insights and data on your customers and what they truly want and expect. We are now in a time where consumers are dictating the rules of the economy and understanding what they really want based on undeniable data can help to build a compelling case for digital innovation and change within an organisation – where the risk of not changing clearly outweighs the risk of innovating.
  • How long does digital transformation take?

    This really varies between organisations and depends on factors such as the current state from which you’re starting, the digital vision of where you want to get to, the internal capabilities and buy-in that you have, and your organisation’s priorities and budgets.

    A small-scale project that’s focused on one particular element may take a few months, while larger scale transformational projects could take 1-2 years.
